Spring 2021 Updates

Sent via email 2/24/2021

Dear WSC Families,

We have confirmation from THPRD that fields will be ready for us to start practice for Spring Season!

The deadline for regular registration is tomorrow, Thursday, February 25. When regular registration closes, the system will be shut down to allow us to apply registration fees to those who have registered.

Fees will be applied on Friday, February 26. At that time, you will receive a system generated message to alert you to the fee and will contain a link to submit payment. You will also be able to make payment through the regular registration link on our website. Please submit payment no later than Thursday, March 4. If payment is not received by March 4, those registrations may be subject to a late fee and team placement will be on a space available basis only. Note: our office hours are Monday and Thursday, 10 am - 2pm. Voicemails and emails received during these hours will be returned that same day, but messages received after hours will have a delayed response. If you have questions during the checkout process, please email the office at westsidesoccerinfo@gmail.com.

As we get ready to apply registration fees to accounts and begin accepting payments, we wanted to update you on how the season is currently looking. Please note that some details may change, but we believe this is most likely the way the season will run:

· Practices begin March 29

· Games begin April 3

· Each team will have one practice per week and one Saturday game for 7 weeks, with the season ending for most on May 15, and final games (for those with a bye week) on May 22

· To accommodate COVID restrictions and reduced registration sizes, some grades will need to be combined, and some teams will play with fewer players on the field:

It is important to note that all of this, especially the start and end dates of the season, depend on fields being prepared for play. This may result in a delay to the start of the season. If the season start is delayed, there is no guarantee we will be able to extend the season to the full 7 weeks.

Please note that once payment is submitted, our regular refund policy applies. You may cancel your registration prior to submitting payment for no penalty.

Other things to note about the season:

· All players/coaches/refs must wear face coverings at all times while on the field/sidelines.

· Parents/spectators are NOT allowed per current THPRD rules.

· Return to Play guidelines and restrictions will be posted prior to the start of the season. All players, parents, coaches, and club representatives will be expected to adhere to posted guidelines and restrictions.

· All practices and games will have a COVID monitor. The COVID monitor will ensure all COVID guidelines are followed and have the power to shut down a practice or game if requirements are not met.

Thank you for reading. We hope to see you on the field soon!

Dear WSC Families,

It is looking more and more like we will be able to have a spring 2021 season but there is still significant uncertainty about field availability. Though we have been approved to use Beaverton School District fields, our ability to play will still depend on THPRD hiring back maintenance staff to prepare the fields for play.  We hope to know more in the next couple of weeks.  We are still planning to start practices on March 29 and games on April 3, but those dates may need to be pushed back.

Once we have confirmation that the park district will be able to prepare fields for play we will send an update to all registered players. At that time we will let you know when registration fees will be added to your player’s account and when those payments will be due.

For now, we will continue to keep registration open but will not accept payments. We do not want to accept payments until we are sure the season will proceed.

Thank you for your continued patience,

WSC Board

Update 2/6/2021

Sent via email 2/6/2021

WSC Families,

Registration continues to be open for Westside Spring 2021 Recreational Soccer.  The COVID indicators in Washington County have been improving and we are moving forward with plans for the spring season, although we are still waiting for field availability from THPRD and BSD.

To register, go to westsidesoccerclub.com.  We are not accepting payments yet, that will begin on about Feb 19 after we have more field information.  We plan to conclude the regular registration period on Feb 25.  After that date, registration will be on a space available basis and a late fee will be added to the registration.

Please know that COVID protocols will be in place for all practices and games.  Face coverings that securely cover the mouth and nose are required at all times for coaches and players.  Current THPRD policy is no spectators.

We hope to see kids back playing soccer soon!  Please contact us with any questions.
Thank you,
Westside Soccer Club Board

Due to continued uncertainty surrounding the season, payments are not accepted at this time. Registration fees will be applied at a later date (expected to be Feb 11) and payment will be required at that time.

Our ability to have a season will depend on multiple factors, including field availability. Please understand that the season may look different as we try to schedule field space and work within COVID guidelines. Updates on the season may be announced via email and/or our website as they are available.

Update 1/1/2021

Sent via email 1/1/2021

Westside Soccer is opening registration for Spring 2021 Recreational Soccer on Jan 4. Because there is still uncertainty about having a season we will not be accepting any payments at this time as part of the registration process.  To register, go to westsidesoccerclub.com.

In deciding whether there will be a recreational soccer league this spring, there will be 2 primary determining factors.

1. COVID infection rates for Washington County low enough for students to return to classrooms.

2. Sufficient fields available through either THPRD or BSD.

Other things to know about Spring Season

1. Creative solutions will likely be needed to get the season to work.  Examples are combining grades, combining genders, reduced team sizes, splitting the season into two smaller seasons, etc.

2. All COVID protocols will be in place for all practices and games.  Face coverings will be required at all times.  Practice and game attendance by parents and other spectators will be guided by OHA risk level.  Current OYSA policy is no spectators.

We know that kids want to return to the soccer field, and we will do our best to make that happen.  However, we must balance the desire to play soccer with the health of our community.  Updates will be published regularly as we approach the time for the spring season.

Thank you,

Westside Soccer Board

Update 9/24/2020

Sent via email 9/24/2020

Westside Soccer Families:

Here is an update on recreational soccer from the Westside Soccer board.  We plan to publish occasional updates between now and the spring season, so our families know what we are up to.

During 2020, we transitioned our website and on-line registration system to a new platform called Demosphere.  You are receiving this email because either you were registered for Fall 2020 or you were in our database on the old system (Bonzi/Stack Sports), and those addresses were imported into our new registration system (Demosphere).

Our new website is www.westsidesoccerclub.com. In order to register with Westside Soccer Club, each family will need to create a Demosphere account.  If you registered this fall, you have already created that account.  For those of you who did not register for Fall 2020, you can go to our website and click on "Register for WSC mailing list" or you can wait until the next time that you register a player.

As for this fall, you should already know that the THJSL league season was cancelled.  While some clubs are holding "camps" to allow kids to practice, Westside has chosen not to do that.  We are prioritizing getting kids back into classrooms and so we do not want to provide any additional opportunities for the virus to spread.

An upcoming important event for the club is our Annual General Meeting.  It will be held over Zoom on TBD date.  At this meeting, we review events of the prior year, present our financial status, and hold elections for Age Group Coordinators and executive board positions.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  The agenda and meeting link will be sent out in early November.

As for next spring, we usually begin registration in early November.  This year, we will be holding off on any registrations until at least Jan 4, 2021.  We need to wait and see if Washington County gets into phase 2, if students are allowed back in classrooms, if HS sports are proceeding, and if fields are likely to be available.  Additional updates will certainly be published at that time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message and please stay safe.
